Street children
The Challenge
Every year, thousands of children leave home to seek a ‘better life’ on the streets of towns in Kenya. Victims of broken homes and poverty, they survive by scavenging and stealing, sniffing glue to dull the pangs of hunger. Yet each one is a real person, with a name and ambition to do well.
The team plans to climb to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro, arriving on the morning of 11 November, 2011. That’s the easy part of the Challenge. The hard part is to raise £111,111 to enable Footsteps International continue to take street kids off the street, give them a home and education and help them into work.
